In its most basic form, the IVF treatment process will cost anywhere from $7,000 to $14,000, or more with add-on services. The cost of IVF depends on many factors, including the amount of medication that is needed for your cycle. In this blog post, the team at the Los Angeles Reproductive Center, with offices in Encino, CA, and Bakersfield, CA, discuss how much IVF costs and what factors may increase or decrease its price.

Baseline Price of IVF

The cost of IVF runs between $7,000 to $14,000 at our practice; this includes retrieving the eggs, inseminating the eggs, placing them into the uterus, lab work, ultrasounds, embryo storage, and anesthesia. However, there are often other costs associated with treatment. We want you to understand what else can affect the price of the IVF treatment process, as well as your possible payment options.

Fertility Testing

Prior to undergoing IVF, patients must undergo fertility testing to ensure that this is the right procedure for them. Some of these tests may include blood work to test hormone levels, an HSG test to determine if there are any blockages in the fallopian tubes or abnormalities of the uterus, ultrasounds, an MRI, and more. If you have health insurance, these tests may be covered by your plan and can be performed with doctors covered by your plan. Having health insurance that covers the cost of fertility testing can bring down the overall cost of your IVF treatment.

Medications

During IVF treatment, patients typically take a number of medications to control their hormone levels, encourage the production of multiple eggs, and trigger ovulation. The dosage and number of days in which you require these medications will affect the overall price of IVF treatment. In general, women who are older or women that have specific fertility issues may require higher dosages and medication for a longer period of time. Our team will perform routine blood checks and ultrasounds throughout your IVF cycle to determine if your dosages are correct and how long you need to take medication.

Add-On Services

There are also a number of add-on services that some patients wish to combine with their IVF treatment. Some of these services include intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), genetic screening, the use of an egg donor, or the use of a surrogate. Each of these additional services come with their own costs and can increase the overall price of your IVF treatment.

Financing

At our practice, we offer in-house payment options, accept outside financing, and work with insurance providers to help patients afford treatment.
